BMW E82 V8 tracktool


Overview

One of our latest projects is #e82v8tracktool.
The real tool for the track is fast, fun, reliable and safe. We have made a competitive car that delights every passing circle, it’s nice and not scary to roll over track.

For the basis we took the street, slightly modified BMW 135 coupe, rolled under the hood naturally aspirated V8 with Dual Clutch Transmission, welded the frame and plastic body panels.

The most frequent question that you hear next to this machine is “Is that a 1M?”. We say “No, this car is much way better!”

Engine:

V8 S65B40
453HP/8000rpm
458NM/3700rpm

Weight 1380kg, 54/46 F/R (incl 40ltr fuel).

  Engine bay:

  • S65 with DCT swapped.
  • Lightweight aluminum pulleys, Damper delete, DCT Lightweight aluminum flywheel (about 18Kg rotational mass reduce).
  • EGR and secondary air pump removed
  • Solid engine and gearbox mounts (aircraft aluminum)
  • Lightweight lower and upper cold air intake (fiberglass).
  • DCT Uprated Oil pan, External Oil Cooler.
  • Heater exchange removed
  • CSF aluminum radiator.
  • Stainless steel free flow racing exhaust.
  • Secondary fuel pump, bosch 044, with 2L swirl pot.

Chassis:

  • Lightweight, seam welded body, FIA homologated weld-in roll cage (front and rear suspension mounting points tied)
  • Fiberglass front fenders, 1M lightweight replica
  • Fiberglass rear quarters, 1M lightweight replica
  • Fiberglass bonnet, adapted M3E92 style, bulge and vents.
  • Fiberglass BMW M3 CSL style boot lid (seibon).
  • Lightweight «lexan» windows
  • Aluminum front splitter
  • Rear diffuser mounted on custom quick release mounts.

Suspension:

  • KW competition 2-way, front upside down absorbers, rear – spring on strut conversion, ball bearing top mounts F/R.
  • Front lower arms – 1M/M3 with poly bushes (Power flex black series).
  • Lightweight aluminum rear arms (6x), fully adjustable, ball bearing ends
  • Rear subframe solid bushes
  • Differential solid bushes

Brake system:

  • Front:
    • 6 piston Brembo calipers, lug to radial mount mod.
    • Aircraft aluminum brackets.
    • 380mm two piece floating rotors, H-bobbins, cnc machined lightweight bells.
    • Braided lines on Goodridge components.
  • Rear:
    • Oem Brembo brake system.
  • Endless CCR-g pads F/R.
  • Braided lines on Goodridge components.

Interior: 

  • Carbon fiber interior panels, carbon fiber boot floor
  • Bimarco bucket seats, OMP 6 point harness
  • OMP Superleggera aluminum steering wheel with DCT paddle shifters.

Lightweighted wiring loom (8kg vs 17kg factory wiring).

Fully functional oem DTC and ABS system.

 Wheels:

Apex EC-7 18×9.5 et22, square setup.
